About Me
I started professional recording in 1984 at Ovation studios in Johannesburg. I then moved to RPM in 1986 (which then became Downtown Studios in 1990). I became the chief engineer at RPM studios in 1989, and was then promoted to Studio Director in 1990. I went freelance in 1995 and opened Forest Studios, a world-class mastering facility in 1997. I then sold my shares in Forest Studios in 2005 to pursue a solo venture in recording, mixing, mastering, and the occasional live gig. My passion in music has lead me to joining The Academy Of Sound Engineering at the beginning of 2010 in a freelance capacity to lecture bright young minds in recording techniques and mixing.
I have worked with, amongst others, U2, Brian Eno, Hothouse Flowers, Atlantic Star, Tale, David’s Confession, Judy Boucher, Hugh Masekela, Stimela, Zim Ngqawana, Paul Hanmer, McCoy Mrubata, Gloria Bosman, Tananas, Squeal, Wonderboom and Lithium, to mention a few.
